Worth its weight in gold to farmers
Revisado: 03-01-21
I usually get bored of audiobooks but the content and Gabe's reading style are both great. I have listened to 10+ hours of Gabe's lectures online and I am still finding this book very helpful in planning my own small farm.
His personal story of really hard early times are also encouraging in that they helped him get to his very successful and innovative cover cropping strategies.

Historia
Women long for deep and lasting friendships but often find them challenging to make. The private angst they feel regarding friendship often translates into their own insecurity and isolation. Christine Hoover offers women a fresh, biblical vision for friendship that allows for the messiness of our lives and the realities of our schedules.

Convicting and encouraging
Revisado: 09-24-17
This book challenged me in so many ways. It revealed a lot of areas I have sinned in my friendships and showed me a new perspective
It was well read and I love her Texas accent. There was a part where she shared about a friend dying of cancer recently and her voice cracked as she read. I'm sure that's not ideal for an audio book producer but I found it so refreshing, like I was listening to a real person.

"Fascists", "Brownshirts", "jackbooted stormtroopers" - such are the insults typically hurled at conservatives by their liberal opponents. Calling someone a fascist is the fastest way to shut them up, defining their views as beyond the political pale. But who are the real fascists in our midst?

Still so important
Revisado: 02-14-17
I've now read this once and listened to it once. This is an extremely thorough and informative look at the roots and history of progressivism in America and its disturbing relationship to fascist regimes in Europe. More than just demonizing the Left though, it exposes WHY they think the way they do, who the thought leaders were along the way, and how progressive ideas developed over time and in different cultures. As a Christian, I find one of the more interesting connections he makes is between progressives and the social gospel movement when Christians basically exported their duties to the State out of "compassion"; a theme I have seen more and more recently.
I have found this book immensely helpful in understanding the left in comparison to many conservative books that typically just list the litany of stupid things they propose. I find it similar to Thomas Sowell's books in the amount of useful and new information he gives.
I also like the reader's style and voice. He does a great job!
