Rodriguez is captain of the scout ship Eleanor, which had carried Wren Fisher, the scientist who discovered a plant-animal hybrid that could potentially change humankind's reality on a monumental scale. Whole series is one big tease with no payoff!
short version: story promises pregnant/breeding erotic, hot alien plant orgies, never delivers on any of these. narrator great, story not worth your time. 90% human-human sex you read about anywhere
details:
This whole series is a frustrating tease! The author creates a really kinky plant/animal hybrid and feeds us hints of its erotic potential, then decides what we really want is slightly unconventional human-human sex. Part 3 doesn't even have part 2's alien humanoid sex scenes as a redeeming feature. There's some painfully brief mention of plantimal-human sex, mostly while the humans are running away. The waste of this polymorphic, tentacular creature is nothing short of criminal. Things were building up in part 2, and I was really hoping part three would go all in on freaky alien tree orgies and big preggo bellies, but instead, 3 shuts it all down and focuses on the last humans. Very perplexing, because this author has other preggo/breeder/alien sex stories, and those are hot enough to require oven mitts for safe handling.
On a related note, I object to this being labeled "breeder/instant pregnancy" erotica - those topics are given about 5 sentences in the first story and two more sentences in part 2 and part 3. Mentioning something in a story does not make the story part of that genre, and I really wish authors would stop confusing "impregnation" with "pregnancy". There's a simple test - does your story FOCUS on the eroticism of round, pregnant bellies? No? Then it's not pregnant erotica!
The one ray of sunshine in this is the narrator - her voice is pure gold and she does a decent job of differentiating characters.
