Acerca de esta escucha

Pride and Prejudice Variation.
Faced with the sudden death of their father Jane and Elizabeth Bennet are forced to leave home and seek occupation. They both find employment in respectable households and begin their new life in the north of England. Elizabeth, who is employed as the lady’s companion, rekindles her acquaintance with both Mr Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam. Sisters fight for the better future for themselves, attempting to find love and good fortune in the twisted paths of life.

Darcy took a step closer to her.
“Do you like him?” he asked, gazing into her eyes.
“Yes, I do,” she admitted calmly. “I always have. He is such an amiable man, easy-going and kind.”
Darcy shook his head. “My own cousin. Do you realise that he is like a brother to me?”
“That is why I wished you to know.”
“If you invited him to Cheapside, you gave him permission to court you,” he said.
“Yes, I did.”
“May I ask for the same?”
Elizabeth opened and closed her mouth. “That would be rather unusual.”
“Unusual? I daresay.”
“Mr Darcy, I have no need for any more disquietude in my life.”
“Is my cousin aware of what happened between us in Kent over a year ago? Did you tell him?”
She shook her head. “No.”
“What do you expect me to do? Share you with him? Allow him to woo you, marry you, take you away to Ireland, bear his children?” Darcy questioned her. “Bloody hell,” he murmured through clenched teeth.
“You should calm yourself down, Mr Darcy. I am not marrying Colonel Fitzwilliam,” she reminded him. “I have agreed to know him better. That is all.”
“Do you love him?”
“I like him. I respect him. I think that I can imagine myself growing to love him.”
“What about me? You do not hate me.”
“Of course not.”
Elizabeth heard the sound of a vehicle stopping in front of the main entrance. She walked to the window to see that it was the cart that she had been expecting.
“Excuse me, Mr Darcy. I must oversee the packing,” Elizabeth said, moving to the doorway.
“Miss Elizabeth,” he said, coming behind her. He placed a hand on her elbow to stop her.
“I must go,” she insisted.
Unexpectedly he closed the door to the hallway and pushed her against it, gently but firmly.
“I will not give you up, not until you tell me you do not care for me,” he told her. Then he leaned down and kissed her fully on the lips. When she did not protest, he opened her mouth gently, tugging at her lower lip.
“Do you think that you can grow to love me?” he asked between kisses, his voice deep and sensual.
Elizabeth did not answer. He smelt of sandalwood, soap, horse, sweat and fresh air. Their eyes met. She put her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to her.
It was all the encouragement that he needed. He deepened the kiss, drawing her into his hard, tall frame, his hands settled securely on both sides of her waist. Elizabeth closed her eyes, enjoying all these new and exciting sensations he was creating within her. She was curious. Her heart was racing madly. She was losing herself. She knew it, but she had no strength to break the contact between them.
During those months spent in Italy, to her initial shock, she had seen more than one couple kissing in the streets of Florence. Italians were much less reserved about expressing their feelings in public.
All too soon it all ended. Darcy took a decided step back, putting proper distance between them.
“I will see you in London,” he promised.
Elizabeth looked up at him. He was affected as well by what had just transpired between them. His eyes were burning with desire, and he was breathless the same as she was. Elizabeth’s head was spinning, and she was trembling all over.
He did not say anything more. She watched him through the window as he mounted his horse and rode away.
Elizabeth touched her burning lips. The kiss left her shaken and wanting for more.
