Reseñas editoriales
Book three in author Lisa Marie Rice’s Midnight series, Midnight Angel, is about a woman, Allegra Ennis, who loses her eyesight in a brutal attack by a person or persons unknown. Now surrounded by the blackest of nights that will last forever, she is haunted by nightmares of a monster whose face she can’t quite recall.
When Allegra meets a tough and hunky former Navy SEAL willing to help, the two work together to expel her demons. Oh yeah, the two also start passionate romance and their marathon erotic lovemaking sessions are described here…in detail.
Narrated in soft and silky tones by Alexandra R. Josephs.

I should have waited for a sale
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
Any additional comments?
2.5/3 Stars
Narrator Alexandra R. Josephs. The narration I give 2.5 Stars. I could think of two narrators who would have done a better job.
Heroine is blind due to an accident caused by her music manager.
This one started out so good, but I noticed myself struggling towards the end.
The narrator did an okay job. She read too slow and it sounded as if she had to concentrate how how she was going to say every word.
I regret using a credit on this one. I should have waited for a sale.

Sweet but disapointing
I read this as a stand-alone, and my overall impression is sweet but disapoingting. I liked the characters, and their crash romance, but there was one giant thing that ruined it for me. I’m going to go into it, but this is a spoiler for the ending, so you’ve been warned.
Allegra is blind, and in denial about having to deal with that fact. There is an experimental surgery (highly experimental) that could maybe fix her blindness so she is holding onto that.
I was hoping that the book would explore this, and show us her comming to terms with her blindess. I mean, she hasn’t even lost her art (her music) to it. Instead it’s only there to give her an air for melancholy, a need for dependancy of the hero, and for her have a suggat sweet oneliner at the end of the book when she can see again. To me this cheepened the rest of the story. And it made me respect her less as a person. To choose a high risk surgery that is more likely to end in brain death than eye sight over adapting. I know it’s a story and the author is in control but it was really frustrating to read about. It made me wish thay the condition she had was obviously temporary from the beginning instead of making her someone who would genuinely rather die than not have her eye sight. Being blind is not worse than death, and having it portrayed as such is frankly really insulting to all who are blind. This is a personal subject for me, so to me it jarred enough that I ended up really disliking the whole thing. But I am able to see that I was enjoying it up to the point where I realized this was where it was headed, the epilogue realky hammered that dislike for me home.
Overall I’m not interested in any other of this authors books as I’m afraid of more weak characters who I’ll end up really disliking. If non of this would bother you then you’ll probably enjoy the book as it delivers on everything else it promises.

Not Terrible
Story is weak but the narrator is bad. If you are going to pick a good or even moderate narrator they need to be able to pronounce the words. It is very annoying . Most of her books have relative poor narrators.

3.5 STARS A BEAUTY & THE BEAST STORY
I loved the other two books in the series so I had high hopes for book 3 and it started off so well but regrettably I found this one a bit repetitive and not very exciting.
Douglas is a very Alpha ex Seal but he's scarred and is called ugly but when he hears the voice of an Angel he has to investigate where it's coming from. Allegra is a beautiful, talented Harpist but she's blind so when she meets Douglas she has none of the discriminations towards him that other people have and judges him on his actions rather than looks.
Yes, there was lots and lots of sex - they meet just prior to an attempted armed jewel theft at a Gala their attending and Douglas decides to look after Allegra as things start going down. From then on he takes her under his wing, protects her, drives her home, stays, has lot of sex, cooks for her, looks after her like a priceless doll, bathes her, dresses her and supports her when she has nightmares and flashbacks. Which I found a bit unnecessary as Suzzane, her Interior Designer friend, had redone her home with her blindness in mind and Allegra has been living there for 4 months quite happily. There were a few touching moments like when he taught her the code to locate things (which came in very handy later on) and when he took her out for a walk.
A bit of suspense as her ex Manager/attacker tried to eliminate her through a third party but that just fizzled out to a few paragraphs at the end. The ending seemed very rushed and all was wrapped up in the Epilogue.
Worth a credit? I guess if you've listened to the other 2 books in the series then yes but my mind started wandering during this one and I even contemplated stopping it and moving on to something else. Please don't shoot the messenger - cause maybe I'm just having an 'off' day but I just didn't feel the romance I'm afraid so sorry but it's a No from me.

Not too bad.
Since I listened to the first two books in this series I decided to try finishing it(the series). Lot's of describing the past which was already known. Think it could move a little faster for me. Overall would rate a 4. Just remember reviews are subjective so you might love the book.

The right kinda love.
Where does Midnight Angel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book is the last of three in the series. All of the books are good but this one is special. The male lead is not the typical romance figure. He is ugly and scarred. The girl is beautiful and talented and yeah she is blind so she can only love him for who he is. The nice parts of the book are the lovers themselves.. The strength and silent will from a man who has no family and no where to go. Very well written emotions and the sex is interesting if nothing else. This book is for someone who wants a sweet romance, little hot sex and a happy ever after on a cool winters day. so snuggle down and enjoy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Midnight Angel?
Douglas' history and response to his new love.
Which character – as performed by Alexandra R. Josephs – was your favorite?
Douglas
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes

Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder
Any additional comments?
Once again Lisa Marie has got me Hooked on Mr Spunky Alpha male, in this book "Douglas" - Wow Mr yummy. As with Lisa Marie's books the sex scenes were steamy and numerous, nicely detailed and intense, but they weren't gratuitous at all. Rice used them to develop Douglas and Allegra's relationship and managed to infuse them with so much emotion that my stomach was clenching every couple of pages and I kept getting a lump in my throat - and I listened to every single page of those dreamy scenes... What made the difference was that I cared for these characters and felt I knew them. They weren't just anonymous bodies writhing around.
I adored Douglas. It was probably because he was one lost little puppy for an alpha, so used to being rejected and stared at in horror. It's sick of me, I know, but I just loved how incredulous he was that Allegra wanted him, how he was ready to do anything to keep her with him. And I probably liked him because his alpha tendencies manifested, not in bullying and dominating Allegra, but in protecting her and wanting to make her happy. If you have listened and love the Midnight Series like me, you Must get this book. It was awesome......
