Acerca de esta escucha

Her: Unstoppable, workaholic, driven force of nature. Him: The exact opposite of that.

Phebe Stark needs a punching bag. No, on second thought, she needs a donut. No, on third thought, she needs to escape into a dark bar with a strong drink. She’s just been harassed, for the umpteenth time, by the slimy supervisor standing between her and a shattered glass ceiling at her high-pressure Atlanta firm. But then a tall, bearded, sexy lumberjack of a bartender saunters over, and suddenly Phebe knows she doesn’t need gin . . . she needs him.

Brody Cantrell didn’t exactly intend to become a bartender. He planned to help out at his ailing uncle’s bar for a year, then get an advanced degree and rise to the top of his field. Instead, he got a Ph.D. in Real Life from his customers. Brody thinks he’s seen everything - until he meets Phebe Stark. And when he gets a load of her fearless sexting skills, he just has to see what’s under that power suit. Brody’s certain they’ll have a good time or two - nothing serious. Then again, all these steamy messages and breathless trysts have him seriously considering . . . Why not?

The narrators were great. These are two of my favorite voices!! I loved Brody. The only mistake Brody made? Loving her and talking about panties. Any woman in this world would die for his body & his love. But with all the love comes my hatred for Phoebe. How many times could she totally eff him over, thinking he would forgive her again & again? She was everything that every powerful woman is who decides to play by men’s rules rather than from her feminine power. She’s callous, cruel, over emotional, bratty, and needs 5-10 yrs of therapy to get through her crap. If she had been a little humane or compassionate, etc I would have given this a 5* review. I stuck with it because of him....

Painful Review on a story I mostly liked.

Man I barely made it to ch 2 and I don't like the h. Shes everything wrong with women losing their femininity. Halfway through ch 3 and I cant stand her. Shes blathering on about men objectifying her but mentally she's done it multiple times to the H.

Sadly women who think they are as tough or tougher than men live in a dream world and when that bubble pops they cant emotionally deal with it. I've had to listen to the h say how she'd kick her boss in the balls and how shes been working in a mans world and is as tough as any man. Riiiiiiiiight. You might be as smart or smarter but that's about it. She talks about not liking emotions, sounds like she wants to be a man and is halfway there. I wish there was a disclaimer before a book saying, beware b*tchy women who thinks shes better than a man, has lost her femininity and will treat all males like crap expecting him to grovel.

Women just be women, we dont need to be men. Theres enough hardness in the world, be the soft. That doesnt mean weak. But it also doesn't mean we need to give up our femininity.

I'm sad this is the not so subliminal message the author is trying to send out into the world. I would hate this h IRL.

Hypocrisy at its finest
