My parents came from “the old country.” My dad was Swiss, and my mom was French. I was the first person in my family to be born in America. My dad started a textile business in Greenville, South Carolina, in the 1970s and, with a few thousand dollars to his name, created a multi-million-dollar company. My dad's love languages were SUCCESS, HARD WORK, and PRECISION. He was my hero, and I always admired his resilience, work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Unfortunately, he wasn’t my mom’s hero because of his intense focus on business success, he was rarely home due to business travel, and he was a womanizer. Having grown up in Paris, France, my mom didn't acclimate to living in suburban America very well. She was not happy with my dad or her life in general. All this led to significant conflict between my parents and many intense and passionate arguments. When I was three years old, my mom divorced my dad and moved back to Paris, France. She left my brother and me with our dad, who did his best to raise us while running a business. My dad primarily looked after us by having us work in his business. I started working for him when I was 11 years old. As a result, I started learning about work ethic, entrepreneurship, and what it takes to build a business at a young age. One of the most important things I learned from my dad was the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on everything in life, no matter the circumstances, and even amidst tragedy. He often said, “Everything happens for a reason. Be Resilient.” My dad was my first mentor and my first introduction to Mindpower. Thank goodness he instilled that wisdom in me because tragedy struck when I was 16 years old. My step-mom divorced my dad and abandoned me, my high school sweetheart broke up with me, my brother (another one of my heroes) moved out west to start a career, and my Dad left on a sabbatical and never came back. My world was collapsing before my very eyes! What got me through it all? A voice in my ear saying, “Stéphane. Everything happens for a reason. Be Resilient.” I employed the resilience and work ethic I learned from my dad and started my first business, mowing lawns. On top of that, as my world was falling apart and I was trying to put it back together, I was asked by my high school principal if I would be willing to coach and mentor other students at my school who were experiencing crises. This was when I started really understanding Mindpower and would step into my purpose, which is to make a positive impact on the world and to help others to… Be Resilient. At 21 years old, I began to leverage both my business-building experience and coaching experience to become a highly decorated INTRApreneur within some of the country's top Fortune 500 companies.
