Sef Gonzalez, better known as Burger Beast, opened up a blogger account in September 2008 with the hopes to document his burger excursions around South Florida and beyond. The Beast began to branch out beyond burgers and cover all facets of comfort food along with some food history mixed in whenever and wherever his journeys took him. He then turned his eyes toward culinary events including the 1st food truck event in the State of Florida. The Beast and his wife Marcela curate and produce social food gatherings throughout the year like Croquetapalooza, Frita Showdown and Hamburger House Party. After a vintage Burger Chef sign was gifted to him, it awakened a long-dormant need to find out more about the history of restaurants. Over the course of eight years, he has amassed a collection of artifacts and ephemera from restaurants’ golden age to the present. The Beast’s collection now numbers over 5,000 pieces and is on display at his Burger Museum in Miami, Florida.
