Los Angeles native JERI WESTERSON is the author of fifteen Crispin Guest Medieval Noir Mystery novels, a series nominated for thirteen national awards from the Agatha to the Shamus. Her fifth novel BLOOD LANCE was named one of the Ten Hot Crime Novels for Colder Days by Kirkus Reviews, and her sixth, SHADOW OF THE ALCHEMIST, was named Best of 2013 by Suspense Magazine. Library Journal has honored her series three times with starred reviews: “Westerson skillfully lulls her sleuth and the reader into a sense of ‘I know what is going on,’ then zings them with the truth. Absolutely first-class; highly recommended,” while Boston Globe calls her detective “A medieval Sam Spade, a tough guy who operates according to his own moral compass.” The Historical Novel Society has twice made her books Editor’s Choice, and thriller author John Lescroart calls her books, “Creative and enthralling… Medieval history combined with modern suspense.” For BOOKE OF THE HIDDEN, her urban fantasy series, Publishers Weekly said, “Readers sad about the ending of Charlaine Harris’s MIDNIGHT, TEXAS trilogy will find some consolation in Moody Bog.” Jeri also completed her gaslamp fantasy-steampunk Enchanter Chronicles trilogy, for which the Paranormal Romance Guild blog said, “I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a steampunk story with characters originating from a multitude of cultures, lovely visuals, and interesting, fantastical plot twists.” Jeri also released the spin-off from the Booke of the Hidden series, MOONRISERS, A Werewolf Mystery series. Her upcoming Tudor mystery series, King's Fool Mysteries featuring Will Somers, Henry VIII's real court jester as the sleuth, will release in January 2023 with COURTING DRAGONS. Bestselling author CW Gortner said about it, "The Tudor court as seen through the eyes of wily Will Somers, Henry VIII’s jester, comes to vivid life in this sparkling mystery." She also has short stories in several mystery anthologies, including the upcoming SOUTH CENTRAL NOIR, an Akashic Noir anthology. She has served two terms as president of the Southern California Chapter of Mystery Writers of America, twice president of the Orange County Chapter of Sisters in Crime, and as vice president for the Los Angeles Chapter of Sisters in Crime. She is also a founding member of the Los Angeles chapter of the Historical Novel Society. See more and sign up for her newsletter at JeriWesterson.com.
