Born 17 years after the ending of world war II, and thence a few years later emerging from a childhood nestled in IRA bombing campaigns, flower power, punk rock, the common market (now the EU), power cuts and the three day week... I have often thought did we (the people) actually win that war? Did good prevail over evil or just do a better job of hiding it in plain sight? I did not learn to read until nine years old and yet went on then to read voraciously for three decades, Apparently I had a good IQ though at 8 I didn't even know the letters I and Q existed. In the years that followed I found success in business, and moreover in four children, now all grown up and out in the world making their way. This has suggested much good in the world. Two wives mind you have suggested significant failings within me, and so much learning still do be done. More stoic as the years pass this year sees the publishing of Wise Hermione my debut novel, following behind 'The Forever Expansion' I am not overly interested in making a buck and intend to donate any significant royalties to 'children's charities' they are the only future of of us have. For my part I write, I run (two marathons this year and 6 half marathons). And I have learned from within the adversities I have stumbled upon that the best thing about the bad stuff that comes your way (and it will) is that those are the events that invite you to decide. A victim is merely someone being offered an opportunity to become a survivor.... Love life and it will love you back.
