About this listen

Lacey's Story...

Covering up pain is easy. It's keeping it tucked away that's hard. I've always needed the cover of tattoos to hide the nasty past that leached its way into me, tainting me beneath my skin.

Not the shiny, trendy tats, but the ugly broken kind, meant to keep the world at bay. If they weren't enough, then my piercings, foul mouth and crazy hair usually did the trick. Life had taught me to never follow the rules, because when you do, you get burned.

My life was perfectly imperfect until Tripp...

Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp was sexy as hell, a charismatic beast, and soon became one of my best friends. We shared a love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could only lead to a beautiful train wreck.

The only question left is, will we set the countryside ablaze with our hot tempers and foul mouths? Or will we paint our own happy ending filled with all the gushy shit normal people crave?

That is the way to love someone

Would you consider the audio edition of Tripp to be better than the print version?

As I didn't read the print version first I can't really answer that but I really did enjoy the audio version

What did you like best about this story?

how two broken people managed to find each other and help each other heal and become better together

Have you listened to any of Madeleine Bundy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to her in Cree and enjoyed having the same narrator for book 2 as I think I wouldn't have enjoyed another narrator telling this story

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and wish I could have

Any additional comments?

Well worth a credit and well worth my time but I will tell you a few times I was hollering at my phone like the characters could hear me

What a Trip!

I'd bought both books in the series at once. Otherwise I wouldn't have read this one. But alas, I gave it a try and it fell flat. I'm just not a fan of the author's voice or writing style. Though this was a bit better than the first. It was just ok.

that was a kicker like wow...

Tripp have a story that surpassed that of cree's. Lacey has lived hard and learned early to fight back. This was a story that needed to be told for two people that were ready to get their chance.

narration was just someone reading the story with different voice and some emotions here and there.

Great story!

I thought this was a pretty good story. I really liked Tripp and Lacey. Lacey is a pretty funny girl and what a mouth! It was pretty much instant infatuation with each other. The narrator did a great job. Very enjoyable.

Not Even Ten Minutes Into It

What would have made Tripp better?

A different narrator.

Would you be willing to try another book from H. J. Bellus? Why or why not?

Paperback or ebook. Absolutely nothing in the form of audible if it's being read by Madeleine Bundy.

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

That Tripp still could be a fairly good book TO READ.

Any additional comments?

The Narration was too breathy and came out in choppy sequences. Their was almost a robotic element that left an impression of sentence by sentence of equally noticeable and distinct pauses. There were zero emotional tones in reading except when the dialog included cuss words or when the dialog was that of a child. A lot of the time I couldn't tell which character was speaking even though it's narrative is written in 1st person. They just all blended in. The POV had been named with each change in POV but still the dialog was hard to follow.

I believe this could have been a rather good story if I read the book first. Now I won't know because this really soured my interest in ever picking this book up. I do think the narrator would do extremely well in a different genre like children's or even pre-teens/teens (like the 4th-9th graders). Overall. I won't be purchasing any other audibles with this narrator.
