Book One of the Submissive Trilogy

More than 8 Million Reads Online

The first in Tara Sue Me’s seductive and scandalous series that has enthralled millions....

Abby King has a secret fantasy.

New York knows Nathaniel West as the brilliant and handsome CEO of West Industries, but Abby knows he’s more: a sexy and skilled dominant who is looking for a new submissive. Yearning to experience a world of pleasure beyond her simple life as a librarian, Abby offers herself to Nathaniel, to fulfill her most hidden desires.

After only one weekend with the Master, Abby knows she needs more, and fully submits to Nathaniel’s terms. But despite the pleasure he takes in Abby’s willing spirit, the Nathaniel hidden behind the rules remains cold and distant.

As Abby falls deeper into his tantalizing world of power and passion, she fears that Nathaniel’s heart may be beyond her reach - and that her own might be beyond saving....

Absolutely Fantastic

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This was a well written story. Lots of hot scenes.

What other book might you compare The Submissive to and why?

50 Shades of Grey. It has kind of the same structure to 50 but not too much.

Which scene was your favorite?

The library scene. Hot!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'll have to get back to you on that.

Any additional comments?

I loved the way Angelica Lee narrated this story. I thought she did an amazing job at how she connected with each of the characters, especially with Nathaniel.

Very interesting!!!

I thought this book was well written and exciting from the point of a new submissive. Very interesting to see the progression...The story was good because there were little surprises along the way which made for interesting reading..

3.5 stars. A good start to a series.

THE SUBMISSIVE is the first of many stories about Abby and Nathaniel, but I feel that this novel is complete with a Happy Ever After and you can read it as a stand-alone if you choose.

I also feel this story was written a little backwards. Information I needed to know in the beginning was supplied towards the end, such as how the heroine Abby, an intelligent woman, could apply to become a submissive of the hero, a stranger to her at the time; and how the hero could accept her so quickly.

Once my many questions were answered, my opinion of the story improved. Had I given up too soon, I would have missed the good parts (background information I considered romantic).

My advice is that if you start this novel and wonder if something is missing, it is. But it comes later in the book, so just be patient and your questions will be answered.

The fascinating thing to me about Dom/sub relationships is the psychology and mental seduction that the relationships are characterised by. Later stand-alone novels in this series: THE FLIRTATION, SEDUCED BY FIRE, THE EXPOSURE, and THE MASTER handle the psychology well and so I like those novels more than THE SUBMISSIVE which has a lack of mental preparation of the heroine by the hero. But once the story got moving, I went with it and enjoyed it for the most part.

Narrator Angelica Lee was excellent, performing the story beautifully, and making me sympathise with the characters.

I know THE SUBMISSIVE is a contemporary of FSOG, but I prefer THE SUBMISSIVE. I recommend this story.

Good but lacking

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If it's on sale yes, but save your credit for something better.

Any additional comments?

There's nothing to make this book stand out. The male character isn't as dominate as I think he should of been especially in a book titled in this manner. Also, this is a trilogy, but at the end it doesn't leave you wanting more. Like I stated eariler, this would be a good one to get on sale. This is not a "WOW" book.

Grabs you from the start

Would you listen to The Submissive again? Why?

Probably not. It isn't something I would listen to over again unless it was a read for the book club or something.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Submissive?

I don't have a memorable moment. I just liked how the book gets into the story from the start.

Have you listened to any of Angelica Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me want more and want to know more about Nathaniel. I quickly started book 2 right after.

no

It was pretty good, but with some work. ..

What did you love best about The Submissive?

Love is a pretty strong word. Abby, Abby, Abby - you wanted the sub lifestyle, so suck it up and take your licks. A couple of scenes were pretty hot; Abby made sure she got her 8 hrs after her first real punishment.

What other book might you compare The Submissive to and why?

The obvious one 50 shades.

Have you listened to any of Angelica Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I listened to all 3 of this series and she's pretty good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It's All Fun and Games Until You Break a Rule.

Any additional comments?

First book was a little too vanilla for me. A Dom that doesn't loan or share his sub? Well I guess it's possible.
