About this listen

Imperialist problems do not end when your empire falls. Sebastian Landis encounters his own issues as his life starts to fade. However, with help from his crew and a hidden source, can his life be saved? Time is short to get Sebastian the help he and the people of Randor desperately need and to avoid an interstellar war.

Will Sebastian get a second chance? Will the Candary lay waste to that region of space, or will two vastly different people come together and put down this new and unrelenting foe?

Beware!

This is an interesting premise. Although it seems to be an episode of a series, it stands well enough on its own.

Beware though - it is very much an adult listen. The violence isn’t graphic, but the sex is. Repeatedly. As this wasn’t anywhere in the summary, it was a bit of a shock. The sex scenes make it as much erotica as sci-fi.

Also a warning: if you’re a feminist, this may offend. Anytime we’re seeing a woman’s thoughts, they are 100% about sex. No depth, no content related to the plot. It got annoying after awhile.

With those caveats, it was a fun space romp with good pacing and continuity.

No, just no

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was just lacking so many things character, plot development, Details of the characters and background information. I have never listened to anything by this author before and based on this book I won’t be doing so again in the future. The narrator was fine and I feel like he did the best he could based on the story. Overall I would not recommend this to anybody it just like so many details of basic story development and characters.

Who where why

Normally I’m waiting for the plot to reveal itself. Here I felt I needed more character backstory thrown in. I needed a fuller grasp of the time, place and purpose. I needed more world building generally. I felt like I had half realized characters walking around nondescript spaceships in my head.

O.K.!

It was just okay for me. I felt like this story was missing so much of everything. The narration was good considering the story. The author needed more character development and a plot. This was my first book by this author and probably my last! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Just ok

Nothing about this book really sings out. the erotic scenes are fairly cookie-cutter, short and unimaginative while the sci-fi story feels forced and cobbled together.

It's a decent way to kill almost 4 hours, and pleasurable enough that I didn't feel an urge to turn it off, however none of the characters really made me care about them one way or the other, and I don't really have a desire to search out other books in the series. Best I can say is it's not great but not terrible either.

I received a copy of this book at my request in exchange for a fair review.
