About this listen

Love’s colors are many.

David is a fortyish corporate lawyer. Handsome. Successful. With the seemingly perfect life in a northern Detroit Suburb. Despite all this, David is miserable when he finds out that his wife has been sexting his best friend. David - who is struggling with his sexual identity - files for divorce and plans on crashing on the couch in his office in a high rise building downtown.

Aaron is a twenty-something post-Harvard graduate burnt out on life and struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Fleeing Boston, and an abusive relationship, Aaron returns home to regroup and figure out what his next move is. Taking a job at cleaning offices, throwing himself into the shadows of blue-collar work, feels comfortable for him at this moment in life.

Life has many colors. However, for these two lost, lonely men, life is an awful shade of gray.

The trilogy of stories follows David and Aaron as they cross each other’s paths and, reintroduce each other to the joys of sex, conversation, and human intimacy.

This set features all three novellas in one book. Into the Gray, A Lighter Shade of Blue, and The Violet Skies of Morning.

wow

I love the audiobook. It is clear that the writer is in control of the writing as it brings the characters to life. I will look for other books by the author. Audio works for me as I am always on the go. Not sure why anyone would give the book 1-star

Finding love in the D

Can I just say that the location setting for this bundle, Detroit, excites me?! I'm not from Detroit but I like the city. So I'm thrilled to listen to a love story unfolding in a location not commonly used in other books.

I enjoyed listening to Aaron and David's evolving love story. The author did a great job in taking us on a journey as the MCs took a chance on each other and fell in love. The secondary characters are great too! The HEA was very well-written, I was rooting for these two and the ending didn't disappoint.

It's my first Vance Bastian listen and he did a great job!

A sweet, sexy journey through love.

A bond started as a long snowed-in weekend hook-up, deepening into a beautiful love that overcomes death, tragedy and adversity.
I enjoyed this story so much; it evolves over three books (I listened to the audio bundle): Into the Grey is where Aaron and David meet; in A lighter Shade of Blue they deepen their connection while also facing hardships and problems from their past; The Violet Skies of Morning is when they seal the deal.
I loved how despite the story being always interesting, there's never a major angst moment, a moment when Aaron and David doubt themselves as a couple or those moment of miscommunication you may find in other books. When these two men start dating, they're all in. This doesn't mean there's no plot or that the story is boring; on the contrary, it's a bueautiful journey along the evolution of Aaron and David's relationship, surrounded by epic friends, close or not so close family and a whole lot of love!
This was my first F.E. Feeley book, and the first time I heard Vance Bastian narrate, but I can honestly say that it was a real pleasure being introduced to such talent!

Gripping, emotional, memorable

I went through a maelstrom of emotions throughout the story. David's ex really irked me in the first book, but in the second one she had me seeing red. How dare the audacity of that vile beast! Thankfully. she did humanize and grow a few brain cells. I loved that both Aaron and David wete willing to take a chance on each other and work on a relationship together. I think it was beyond brave and honorable of David to tell Aaron to confront his past/Roger. I was shaking in my boots, but I liked how things turned out. I
liked the service dog and ptsd inclusions. They make it all more real. The cold shower with the dog- hilarious ! The wedding scenes were happy, tearful, and memorable! What a beautiful journey the author took us on in this series. The ending left me with happiness in my heart and a huge smile as I write this review. The narrator did an excellent job bringing it all to life. A great addition to anyone's audio section.

Want to hug these guys!

5 stars

Narration: Vance Bastian narrated the series that was pulled together into one larger file here. He has a nice, younger sounding voice. He seems to be new on the scene (just a couple before this year), and with time, I think he’ll be fantastic. There was some stumbling on accents, but his flow was good and kept me into the storyline easily. His cadence was fast in a few spots, but it didn’t keep me from anything. I will definitely listen to more by him in the future.

Story: Let me just say that I’m native to Detroit but haven’t lived there for years now, and it was amazing to hear all the areas F.E. used.

My first thought when the first sex scene came on was there was no condom use in the one-nightstand…turned relationship later. But that leads into an issue later, so just keep reading or listening.

I loved these two guys. The trilogy follows Aaron and David through their growing relationship. I was so invested that I continued listening even at home. Side note…F.E…Rodger while I was at work was NOT okay! (even though I wanted to do serious harm to him at some points) But that means that I was invested in the story and the characters.

Some bits were cheesy, but omg so sweet that it was perfect. This is a good look at relationships in this day and age where people get attached after meeting. It's not really insta-love, but a building of something more when they both thought it was just a one-night stand situation. But it was realistic and flowed well. I found myself cheering for them not too far into the story.

As for the characters:
David is a lawyer that’s bi-sexual but has never ventured to that side of the fence since he married his high school sweetheart. He found out that she’d been sexting his partner at work, and he was having trouble ignoring his want for man-loving. So it seemed like the divorce would be amicable. I wasn’t sure why David called his ex-wife after her behavior when he was struggling. I thought that part just didn’t fit for me. I thought she had no place in the story after her behavior earlier…I just didn’t feel the turn-around on her part.

Aaron is a Vet and suffering from PTSD. He’s a Harvard Grad, but he isn’t ready to figure his life out just yet. He needs his home and his people to find himself again and heal. We only really met Aaron’s friends, but lol that’s okay because they’re hilarious and loving!

I will definitely be looking for more books by F.E.!

Finding HEA

Great story. Its nice to read a story that takes place somewhere you live, visit and know. Nice job using true facts and places, including the tornado. These men had to go through a lot to find HEA, I'm just glad they got one. Well Worth a credit, your cash and your time. This is a really nice story. Down river should be proud. This Michigander sure is.
