About this listen

"Spring 1873: I arrived in Japan a virgin bride, heartsick and anxious beyond measure. Yet I embraced this perplexing world with my soul laid bare after uncovering an erotic, intoxicating power I hardly knew that I, Katie O'Roarke, possessed.

"Japan was a world away from my tedious Western existence, a welcome distraction from my recent marriage to a cold and cruel husband. But when James attacked me in a drunken rage, I could tolerate it no longer.... I had no choice but to escape into the surrounding hills. I awoke in the arms of Akira, a young Samurai, and it was he who took me to Shintaro, the head of the powerful Samurai clan.

"At first distrustful, Shintaro came to me every day for a fortnight until my need for him made my heart race at the very sound of his feet upon the wooden floor. He taught me the way of the Samurai - loyalty, honor, self-respect - and the erotic possibilities of inner beauty unleashed. It is his touch that shatters my virginal reserve, evoking danger and physical pleasures that linger beyond our fervent encounters.

"But James means to find me, to make me pay for his humiliation. I can no longer hide amongst the orange blossoms as rebellions rage, and as my own secret continues to grow...."

Disappointed

I was eager to listen to this story when I downloaded it but early on, my excitement waned. This story has a lot of erotica and I do not like it. The story itself is a good story and could stand on its own without the sexual scenes. If you are into reading erotica, then this story will appeal to you but if not, then you will not like this story. I am sorry to say that I did not finish this story and deleted it from my library.

awful

I hated this book. I expected more romance, it was cheap and over rated.

Japanese Tea ritual

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

this book is a historical story to illustrate the japanese way of thinking

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

great twist

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Ms Gordon always does a good job; this story could have used a better editor

Any additional comments?

this is erotica, make no mistake, but it is mixed with the japanese way of thinking.
think Shogun before buying

There's a story in there somewhere..............

The idea of the story sounded so good, so different, that I thought that this would be a great addition to my audio library. Holy cow, what a mistake! I, gamely, hung in there for almost 2 hours to try to get past all the extraneous, explicit sex scenes, and finally decided that the story was actually, not even secondary to this author and book.

Way too bad, because the idea of the story was a terrific one, but, ruined.

Do yourself a BIG favor, save your credits and more importantly, your MONEY!! Pass on this one. I wish I had.

Hot!!

Would you listen to The Blonde Samurai again? Why?

Yes it contained a mature "adult" theme while also fufilling my needs for a good story line.

What did you like best about this story?

The entire idea of it and it being set in history.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of them.

Any additional comments?

This book is great and I suggest all other of the authors books.

Boring

I really found this book boring. First time I haven't been able to get even through the first hour. Total waste of my credit.

Dreadful, Self-Importment, and Silly

This book seeks to present itself as Victorian erotica, in the then-popular style of memoir. However, throughout, the "writer" is clearly overcome by her own sense of self-importance, titillates with promises of erotic events to come that occur infrequently, and tells her story in a confusing way. Her too-frequent direct comments to her audience are so unbearably annoying that the listener simply has to grit her teeth and bear with them--if she is going to stick with the book at all.

I hung in with this book to the end, but really, "gentle listener"--save your money on this one.

Meh

I was disappointed. I thought this book was a romance or a historical novel, but its nothing but hard core erotica. I gave up listening when the protagonist was getting turned on by her husband beating the servant wtih the riding crop. Life is too short to want to read this. I think the writer must be a man.
