Acerca de esta escucha

Oops, I just summoned my grumpy demon boss!

In my defense, I needed revenge on my cheating ex after he announced his engagement to the woman he left me for. And yeah, I might have been drunk.

When Azeroth shows up in my kitchen, my half-baked plan for revenge feels like an afterthought in the face of his dark, dangerous eyes and his chiseled body—who knew he was hiding abs of steel under his business suit? But a summoning is a summoning, and now he's stuck by my side until I'm satisfied.

Fake dating my billionaire demon boss sounds like the perfect revenge right about now. What better way to show I'm so moved on already?

Only, the more I get to know the real Azeroth, the more I see a guy who really deserves my love. Our relationship might be fake, but surely there's no faking the heat that ignites between us every time we touch.

My grann told me never trust a demon, but I think I'm falling. I just hope I don't get my heart broken again.

The Heroine – Elodie
Elodie is navigating the emotional wreckage left by her long-term ex, Dustin—a man who not only dumped her after five years of dating and cohabitation but promptly evicted her because he was dating someone new. Her best friend Quinn urges her to leave the past behind, but Dustin drives the knife deeper by dropping the news: he’s engaged to the woman he left Elodie for. Ouch.

The Demon – Azeroth
Azeroth has been taking a break from the demon realm, preferring power suits and profit margins in the human world. His slick business empire is running smoothly when fellow demon Mordecus arrives with a complication: Mordecus has claimed a long-overdue favor and demands Azeroth take the next human summoning. Demons loathe these contracts—the requests are usually humiliating, absurd, or both.

Plot Snapshot
Elodie happens to work for Azeroth—yep, the very demon in question—and she’s one of the rare humans he genuinely likes. When she shows up to work dressed down and clearly distraught, he’s caught off guard. After a tense moment in the office, he learns about her rough day and offers his surprisingly empathetic support.
Later that evening, fueled by drinks and post-breakup rage, Elodie impulsively summons a demon to get revenge. Imagine her surprise when her boss—the brooding, magical Azeroth—arrives in her living room.

What Worked Well 😘

• Azeroth steals the show. He’s snarky, indulgent, and unexpectedly tender. I loved how he genuinely cared about protecting Elodie’s soul—even if he technically had to claim a sliver of it.
• Luxury-loving demon? Yes please. Azeroth’s affinity for silk pajamas, high-end brands, and pristine surroundings added depth and hilarious flair.
• Magic in action. The use of magic was frequent and fun, showing off Azeroth’s skills while keeping things dynamic.
• Genre gold. Between monster romance, fake dating, and well-paced steamy scenes, the story hit some of my favorite tropes while feeling fresh and inventive.

Where I Struggled 🤔

• Quinn’s use of they/them pronouns tripped me up grammatically at times. While I fully support inclusive representation and diverse characters in fiction, I personally find singular “they” confusing in certain sentences. It’s a me-issue more than a story flaw, and it’s something I’m still adapting to as a reader.

Audiobook Performance 🎧
Narrated from dual perspectives, the performances by John Masterson and Cassandra Myles added a distinctive voice to each character. Cassandra’s narration had a high-pitched tone that felt a bit exaggerated for Elodie, though her male character voices were surprisingly well-executed. Masterson’s rich, resonant delivery was excellent for paranormal romance—he continues to be one of my go-to narrators in this genre.
