About this listen

"Haunted by nightmares of a black dog, sick to death of my mind-numbing career and heart-numbing fiancé, I impulsively walked out of my life - and fell into Faerie. Terrified, fascinated, I discover I possess a power I can't control: my wishes come true. After an all-too-real attack by the animal from my dreams, I wake to find myself the captive of the seductive and ruthless fae lord Rogue. In return for my rescue, he demands an extravagant price - my firstborn child, which he intends to sire himself.…

"With no hope of escaping this world, I must learn to harness my magic and build a new life despite the perils - including my own inexplicable and debilitating desire for Rogue. I swear I will never submit to his demands, no matter what erotic torment he subjects me to…."

Did I miss something?

Would you try another book from Jeffe Kennedy and/or Sasha Dunbrooke?

Yes it was an interesting story, I just felt it was missing something... I could have used more understanding. Like what was the marking on Rouge's face why was it there?
Did he really stay in the tent with the dragonfly girl?

What was most disappointing about Jeffe Kennedy’s story?

To many unanswered questions

What would have made this romance irresistible?

More romance....

A good listen !!

This was a good listen (could have been better)
the story and narrator took a while to get into, but once it did the majority of the book was good.
Where it feel flat - not enough time spent on chemistry between the two main characters, thus the end seemed improbable ... too much time spent on the war battle etc.

Hopefully the author will get a better balance in her next book

3 stars

Well this went in a different direction then I was expecting. I'm still trying to figure out Jeffe's fantasy writing from the few books I read. I'm still going to check out the next book though. Narrator was good.

Delicious!

I read all three books a year or so ago and enjoyed them thoroughly. When I came across the first two in audio book I had to buy them. There's something about listening to a story. It's a whole different experience from reading. The narrator did an awesome job; her voice was smooth and well modulated with good inflection and believable male and female voices. She brought the story to life. And I love this story. Gwen is smart, intellectual and snarky. An awesome combination. Rogue is the perfect alpha male; confident, mysterious, annoying and sexy. The world is unique and interesting and the plot is intriguing. I recommend this story in all its forms. My only criticism is that the third book has not been recorded. Come on publishing company, snap to it!

abused into so called love

if you want to listen to a women be stripped and humiliated. if you want a fake strong female lead who gives in to her tormentor because of a sexual attraction thats misplaced. this is your book. i found it distrubing and irresponsible. to think we must submit to a man to be worthy of him. bullshit. never reading book2

Disappointing

What would have made Rogue's Pawn better?

The opening line of the summery is definitely right on, This is no Fairy Tale. In fact a good portion of the first half of the book was depressing to have to witness.

It took a while for the story to take off. The beginning really didn't give any clues as to where the story might go or the whole point of what was happening. When Jennifer finally was sent into faery it still seemed to take a while to get the point of things but the scenery was quite nice. There are some things that I wish would have been explained more like why Jennifer was now Gwynn (besides just saying that was what Rogue picked), and why she is pretty much a slave but still treated as royalty by most people (What gives her, her status exactly) Maybe I just missed it?. There is a ton of things happening in the story but the pace was all out of whack for the most part. There is a lot of world building and I did not enjoy Jeffe Kennedy's idea of Faerie. I felt the story was picking off, then crashed back down with the plot every where. I will not be buying the 2nd book, since this was a waste of my money.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jeffe Kennedy again?

Not sure, I was very disappointed. I am a regular reader and listener of audio, and this was a waste of my credit.

What about Sasha Dunbrooke???s performance did you like?

The reader was great. I was able to visualize the characters with her tone, emotionals and pains.

You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

no

What is the plot exactly?

You learn nest to nothing in this book. It’s a giant mystery. Who is Rouge and why should I care if he ends up with Gwyn? Why is he allowed to get off with anyone at anytime but Gwyn can’t? I liked Liam better honestly.

DNF

I stuck it out for 2 and a half hours before boredom set in. I knew that if I was paying more attention to the birds on the feeder than the story it was time to stop.

The whole story annoyed me. No explanation on anything. She's trapped in a world she knows nothing about and no one, not even Rogue would explain ANYTHING. Not even about the banquet where her life is at stake. It seems like they expect her to know everything about them. Not only did those 2 hours dragged but I was lost on some things. Can't take 8 more hours.

Book 2 seems to be a continuation. Another 10 hours!?

Will not finish series.
