About this listen

My brother is an idiot. He won the lottery and invested all of his money in a run-down bowling alley. Since he's barely making it, he moved in with me.

Great.

Having him around the house isn't the worst thing in the world, but he does make a mess like nobody's business. My friends Zeke, Jessie, and Kayden keep me sane but there's only so much they can do.

And it's definitely not the worst thing in the world when his old friend, Ryker, moves to town.

The second I lay eyes on him, I'm hot under the collar. He makes my body burn in longing and freeze in desperation at the exact same time. When he talks, I don't listen to anything he says because I'm staring at that hard jaw and those kissable lips like I already own them.

But he's a bed hopper. A playboy. A heartbreaker.

I'm all down for some hot, sweaty, yummy sex even if it doesn't have a fairytale ending. I've been down that road before. I know the drill. But with Ryker, it's different.

Because I know I'll fall in love with him.

For now, I'll steer clear of him and keep my hands to myself. It can't be that hard, right?

Or can it?

REALLY ENJOYABLE AND DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Any additional comments?

This was an interesting listen. You would think that the male narrator would be the love interest but it was her brothers perspevtive which made it different. I enjoyed this story and I am thankful that there are four more books and I don't have to worry about cliffhangers. Good Listen 🌟🌟🌟🌟

My Two Pennies

Im going with 3.7 but bringing up to a 4 star read. I think it's absolutely hilarious hearing siblings and their banter in this story Rae & Rex do not disappoint. I don't know who's team I want to be on, the best friend Zeke or the stranger in the park turning out to be CEO and the boss of Rae also known as Ryker. I want to cheer them both on for different reasons because they're both great guys. I enjoyed the story and the outcome Rae decides. Want to know which man she chooses? Need to one click to find out.

Ray of Light

I love a strong female lead and Ray is just that. She has priorities and doesn't stray, she believes in family and friends and keeps them close. I really loved her character.

The story line is slightly angsty, more just entertaining. I loved listening to the slightly forbidden romance of dating your brothers friend.

Samantha Cook is a fantastic narrator. She is able to portray multiple male characters, making each slightly different so you know who is speaking. Michael Ferraiuolo is just not my personal favorite. I feel this way for a couple reasons. #1- his voice doesn't match that of the characters that EL Todd is attempted to portray. The dominate, alpha male character just wouldn't have this voice in my opinion. Then there's the slightly eastern accent of the best friend that I just couldn't get into. Came across as disingenuous. It's nothing that took away from the book, I still enjoyed it. I just don't personally enjoy his performance.

it had its funny, jaw dropping moments

it overall was a good book, however the story seemed rushed or choppy. I didn't care to much for the male narrator but it wasn't a deal breaker overall a good start to the series

Fun book where's the next?

I am really getting in to E.L Todd's books. I enjoyed this one a lot but was bummed to see the 2nd book was not on audio yet (I binge read/listen like, all day) so I love to move on right away like most people probably do. I looked for it on paperback but it is not available according to B&N only digital so I got it on my kindle app after actually contemplating buying a nook just to read Ray of hope and Ray of love lol. I really enjoy listening at work all day and don't mind actually reading but don't have as much time. I am going to move on to a different story for now and REALLY hope the next 2 books for the Ray series are on audible soon :)

:)

Loved the series... the narrators did a nice job. I wish the females lines could be read by a woman and same for the males...

Cringe worthy

I feel a sense of duty to write a review of this supposed Rom-Com. The onion reference comes to mind not in reference of its depth but more to its many smelly layers. Besides the fact that most of the characters have dog names, there was nothing romantic or comedic about a group of 16 year olds apparently trapped in the bodies of adults (absolutely no depth or maturity in any of the characters).
The sex obsessed, man-child character Ryker had no redeemable qualities apart from his bulging biceps and sizable paycheck. The heroine of the novel seems cringingly naive in her pursuit of a "real" relationship. At one point even referencing his ardent desire to have unprotected sex as an expression that he must really love her.
Peeling more layers back, I listened to this book on Audible. The male narrator's many voice inflections were pretty much the only comic relief of this whole experience. Seriously, thank you for that. It made the listening somewhat amusing.
