Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Elizabeth Lowell adds a bold chapter to her impressive body of romantic fiction with Only Love. She has won the Romance Writers of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award and has over seven million copies of her works in print.

Shannon Conner grew up in a Colorado cabin, isolated from the world. Now she lives as a lonely young widow in the cold mountains. Forced to fend for herself, Shannon valiantly attempts to deflect the harassment of local bullies, but she is grossly outnumbered. However, when Rafael "Whip" Moran, the man who will defend her honor, enters her life, everything changes. Unprepared for the feelings Whip unleashes within her, Shannon is torn between her fear of this rugged stranger and a burning desire to be with him.

Richard Ferrone’s seductive narration will have listeners enthralled by Lowell’s passion-filled prose.

Whip got on my nerves!

So like all the men in this series, they fall in love kicking and screaming. They are good men though and that is why I put up with them :)...

Fourth in Series

This is the fourth story in the 'Only' series. In order there are 'Only His', 'Only Mine', 'Only You' and 'Only Love'. In my opinion 'Only His' is the best of the four stories, but a close second would be 'Only You'. 'Only Mine' has a very odd start to it which left me very unsympathetic with the heroine, but I did warm to it by the end. 'Only Love' is probably the weakest of the four stories, but I still found Elizabeth Lowell's description of the scenery enthralling and the settings of these four stories were really a large part of the appeal. Richard Ferrone has a wonderfully warm and soothing voice which was perfect for the male characters, and he did as well as any man could (with such a deep voice) for the ladies!

My Thoughts

Loved the book, the taming of Whip Moran was delicious!!! And the way they joined their lives with that of the previous characters was very enriching...I’m only sorry I can’t join them for other adventures

Yondering man

This book was a high 4 star read. I'm not sure why--not much happened except pining after each other but I really enjoyed the longing and the fighting banter between the MCs.

😍 Just a perfect story 😍

Tjhis was a perfect story for me.I laughed and cried throughout this whole book. I was rung out by the end and could not have been happier. I went back and listened again so I didn't miss anything. thank you Miss Phillips for all your wonderful books but especially this one. by the way the narrator made the book especially wonderful. his voice made the characters come alive He is always great but this time he outdid himself.

Only love.

I liked the unusual setting & Shannon's character. I found Whip to be a whimp. And if he told her one more time that he did not want to be tied down from his wanderlust I would have screamed. Someone said this was the best of the love series but I do not feel that way.

Retitled...Only Frustration. Mild spoilers below.

Shannon, the female main character, begs for the love of the thick-headed Whip through at least 75% of the story. I stopped at chapter 16 because I felt like she needed a backbone more than she needed Whip. Whip had rejected her cruelly several times to the extent that I wouldn’t have him. His character was no longer redeemable to me. I just felt frustrated and angry throughout most of the story. It would have been easy for her to get a better man IMO, esp in the West at the time in history...few women, so many choices. I wish I had picked another book instead of wasting my time on this one.

One of the worst

The author appears to have a really warped view of life. Don't waste your money on this one.

Dull

Whip’s story was too dull. Shannon is a virgin widow (yes! that wasn’t a typo). whip wants her. Whip also can’t settle down because he loves to travel the world. They fall in love. Eventually he decides to stay. End of story. Ugh give me some true conflict!
