How did the narrator detract from the book?

She tried to put too much acting into it. Different voices are one thing, but she adds horrible accents in. (I can tell she has a natural NY accent, but putting a big Bronx address on a main character was SO annoying. It didn't fit at all.) She added this weird British accent to a side character - no biggie, but just an example of what was both annoying and unnecessary.

The stories are basically good, but the unusual pronunciation in the narrators dialect is distracting. Needs a better editor too.

The Unwilling-No: Tedious, blood, gore, psychic, repetitive-circling the same facts & visions. 1 Star for overall and story 2 stars for performance

Arresting Desire-Yes: The main drawback was the reader/narrator-attempting an East Coast accent it was very distracting. 3.5 stars Overall & story 1 star performance

On Fire-YES, YES, YES! Absolutely loved this - wished it was longer, didn't want it to end. 5 Stars Overall & Story 3 Stars performance

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I'm going to rave about Sylvia Day's On Fire some more...the instant connection between Darcy & Jerod was amazing and the 'bedroom' dynamics were hot! The story was good as well.

Would you be willing to try another one of Chandra Skyye’s performances?

Probably not....she had a difficult time pronouncing common words-my favorite (sarcasm) was wanton as in woman pronounced like wonton as in Chinese soup (groan)!

Was Hot in Handcuffs worth the listening time?

Again; Arresting Desire & On Fire - yes.

The Unwilling no (for a romantic/erotic novel there was no intimacy until over 1/2 way through!)

Any additional comments?

A good way to sample new authors (although I'm already a Sylvia Day, Shayla Black fan) - I'm definitely not going to pursue anything by Shiloah Walker.These books contain adult themes and coarse language.

The first two stories were pretty good. The third one was so boring that I couldn't finish it. I also didn't notice the narration being bad until the third story.

All three were very good stories with interesting storylines and characters. They each had some good smokin hot sex scenes. Really enjoyed the narration by Chandra Skyye except one female during sex was too high pitched, made her sound to sissy and that’s not the way she was.

The First story was terrible. The second story was ok. The last story was the best out of the three

For a collection titled Hot in Handcuffs, there’s only one scene with cuffs.
Instead, the common theme is romance with lawmen.

I like narrator Skyye for campy paranormal romance (Kodiak Point series, for instance).
For erotica involving lawmen, however, I wanted growlier voicing, preferably by a male narrator.
Her inability to pronounce the ‘t’ in words like button was distracting.

Ch1: Arresting Development by Shayla Black ⭐️⭐️ 3 hrs
“His dark eyes promised bed scratching, back arching, scream worthy pleasure”
Too bad he’s narrated with a greasy, Jersey boy accent that sucked the sexy right out of the story.

Ch 6: On Fire by Sylvia Day ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 hrs
“You want a sheet clenching, back arching …”
Hmm, maybe the title should have been about backs arching. This one had the best balance of cop romance to mystery procedural. Yes, the culprit was obvious. But, the sex was smutty and the author understood the handcuff part of the assignment.

Ch21: The Unwilling by Shiloh Walker ⭐️ 4 hrs
Does a serial killer torturing women scream sexy to you? Yeah, not to me either. Add in a wasted paranormal element and a romance devoid of personality and this was a dud.

The first 2 stories had an entaintaining story, with a good plot. The last story was just outright boring.I love Shayla Black she is a great author.
