A Story that made me scream "WTF!" on chapter 13.

BEWARE THE FOLLOWING HAS A BIT OF A SPOILER ALERT.
I couldn't wait to get started on this book and it truly had me hooked. A broken-hearted girl has her first one night stand with, of course, a handsome rich stranger who happens to look a lot like her ex. By using his money & connections he finds Jessica again & gives her a much needed job. With a new town, new job and a great new friend who is also her co-worker and roommate things are really looking up for Jessica. She even starts a relation ship with her new boss. The sex scenes are pretty intense. So since things are coming together for Jessica of course her ex Storm, would come back into her life. Now an interesting triangle starts up. Jessica is truly torn between the 2 and you feel for her since both men are amazing in there own way and who have much more in common than you know.I could even give it to Jess when she spent the night with one & then the very next night with the other. When the three of them are forced to face the true while one guy walks in on Jess and the other guy you finally get some good dialogue there. But when on chapter 13 Jess goes to her boss's place for a talk, she ends up putting on some kind of harness getup with leather straps. And if that weren't enough the second guy walks in in order for them to have a threesome. Totally didn't see that coming. But what made it worse was the second time the threesome takes place which was after Jessica accepts engagement ring from one of the guys. I truly believe that whole threesome was unnecessary. The story didn't need it. It had me hooked at least until that tasteless craziness took place. If they were having fun maybe. But the two men where in love with Jessica and were waiting for her to choose. While Jessica went from a broken-hearted girl to sleeping with a man whom she can't get enough of and who orders her to be a total submissive to his wants & needs. And the harder he hit her the more she likes it? Really since when? And then has a threesome with dominate and the one that got away. Not just once but twice and neither guy looks at her differently? Really? And when you've just gotten engaged? Really? Opal you were going to get a new fan with me til good o'l chapter 13. It truly went to the dark side with that one. So if you don't mind the threesome situation then You'll truly like maybe even love this book.

Not a serious book

This book was released as a 6 part story originally, so there are about 5 moments when you can just hear a piano in your head going *dum-dum-dummmmmm", followed by a cheesy announcer saying "Will this be the end of them....Can she handle the truth....tune in next week for the continuing story!" :- )

All in all I would say parts 1-4 were an in depth book, with great back story, characters that you really get invested in, and an overall edge of your seat can't put it down this book is hot hot hot...and in an OH so good way!

Then we hit parts 5 and 6 which feel like they were written by someone else. This caring story of a woman determined to make it on her own, get over her heart ache and move on with life is replaced by a wishy washy woman who is all of a sudden a full on sub to her Dom (even though that wasn't really originally explored much), and poof there is MFM action, and you are just like wow...um...okay this really cool book just made everyone change who they fundamentally are and what they have been doing for 6 hours and everyone got a lobotomy to finish up the story….okay well at least the hot scenes are still hot.

So, I'm still giving it over all a 4 star review because the narrator was great, and the first 4 chapters were SOOO good and plausible and I just didn't want to put the book down....okay so the last 2 chapters had me scratching my head going HUH? But I'm not sorry I bought it.

Is that a positive review???? You decide! I will say this though, I'm getting book 2 because now that I am prepared for the roller coaster I think I will enjoy it!

Sex in the Office

I thought the beginning was great; Jessica was a very likable character. She goes to a job fair, meets an interesting man (Jake) and they end up spending the night together. All good! Then Jessica is hired by a company that Jake owns, and the plot slides back into high school. Spoiler alert: Jake & Jessica spend all their time having sex at work, but never on their own time for reasons I still don't understand. Then Jake's brother turns out to be Jessica's old boyfriend, who left & broke her heart. Really??? I found the drama contrived & immature. There were some good parts, but not enough to make me care what happened in the end.

Excellent Story

The story and the love scenes were excellent. The narration was the only downside.

Don't know which was worse....

What disappointed you about His to Possess?

It is very hard to choose what was the worst part; the writing , the performance of the narrator, the plot theme, or all of the above. I think I would have to go with all of the above.
I kept flipping between laughing and groaning (and not in a good way) during the sex scenes. The book had a lot of potential. It just seemed to me that the author was trying to hard. Needless to say, I will be asking for my credit back.

What could Opal Carew have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She needs to let a story sit for a few weeks and then go back and edit the parts that don't flow or feel forced.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mackenzie Hart?

Someone less breathy.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I couldn't finish it. That should say it all.
