About this listen

Love can happen in a heartbeat

Grace never thought she'd be starting her life over from scratch. Losing everything has landed her in Lucky Harbor, working as a dog walker for overwhelmed ER doctor Josh Scott. But the day his nanny fails to show up, Grace goes from caring for Josh's lovable mutt to caring for his rambunctious son. Soon Grace is playing house with the sexy single dad....

With so many people depending on him, Josh has no time for anything outside of his clinic and family - until Grace arrives in town. Now this brainy blonde is turning his life inside out and giving a whole new meaning to the phrase "good bedside manner." Josh and Grace don't know if what they have can last. But in a town like Lucky Harbor, a lifetime of love starts with just one day....

Jill Shalvis continues to shine

What made the experience of listening to Forever and a Day the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed the narrator and the main characters. Jill Shalvis continues to write characters which are realistic and likable.

What about Erin Bennett’s performance did you like?

She distinguished nicely between the characters and I never doubted who was speaking or thinking.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I pretty much did. It was hard to put down.

Read all six books in series

Here's another author I enjoy. Like her characters and hope there will be more books in "Lucky Harbor"

Finally, A Really Strong Woman

Grace and Josh. Not necessarily a match made in heaven in the beginning but as it turned out a, sweet love story. Grace is one of the strongest female lead characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. She wasn’t broken or flawed, she just needed to figure out what she actually wanted out of life. Dr Josh Scott was the same way. No angst, just a sweet love story that needed time and care to unfold. Shalvis did a good job, as usual, with a slow burn and lots of characters you get to love, including Tank the puppy. Erin Bennett’s narration was great, although I would have loved to have listened to a male voice reading some of it, you know, just to make it a little more interesting.

Because audiobooks are better with chocolate!

I Debated for a long minute on whether to get this book or not because Erin Bennett is the narrator (same as the previous book) and I really disliked her performance on that previous book. But a Jill Shalvis book is as irresistible as a warm brownie. This story just melted my heart like hot fudge. It was sweet, sexy and believeable. I can't believe the chocaholics trilogy is over! I sure hope there are more Lucky Harbor stories to come.

I am happy to report that Ms. Bennett got significantly better as a narrator. I still think that there isn't much difference between female and male characters (voices) but she did add the intensity and emotion that the story required. I really enjoyed the whole story, fell in love with that little Jedi warrior, the annoying puppy and the fabulous ending!! I highly recommend it!

Doctor McHottie and the Willowy Blonde

Where does Forever and a Day rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very high. Already a steady fan of Jill Shalvis, and I really enjoyed this story and the narrator's voice/interpretation. This is the sixth of six Lucky Harbor stories (rumors abound there'll be more) and is a satisfying conclusion the series as we know it. Of the "Chocoholic" trio, this ranks right after "Lucky in Love" (still my favorite story) and before "At Last."

What did you like best about this story?

Regardless of the love story, it reveals the struggles of a working dad with sole custody of a child, a demanding career field, the pains of dealing with an irascible sibling, and, thankfully, a man who didn't have mommy or daddy issues clouding his story line.

Have you listened to any of Erin Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She also read "At Last" by Jill Shalvis and reads well, pleasant on the ear, reads the male voices without unnecessary affectation.

I still think Suehla El Attar (Books 3 and 4 of Lucky Harbor series) manages to vocalize Jill Shalvis' writing best, but Ms. Bennett's work is great. Still am disappointed Books 1 and 2 haven't been re-recorded - cannot stand the narrator of those two. Might I recommend Audible coordinate Ms. Bennett revisit Books 1 and 2 of Lucky Harbor so they might be more palatable to the ear?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it's a great distraction to laundry, lawn work, dishes, cooking, ad nauseum.

Any additional comments?

As with any romance novel and the inherent sexual nature of the genre, mightily recommend earbuds versus speakers on the laptop. :-)

"Obliques That can Make You Weak"

Would you listen to Forever and a Day again? Why?

YES, if you are a good fan of JS, then this story will just grab your heart. This one is right up there with Rumor Has it and Then Came You by JS, my faves. As you listen you get that "ahaa" all through the listen. Hot scenes are yummy but not graphic. This are light listens that can give you that all around good feeling. Lots of humor, but YOU must be in the mood for it or you will miss it.

What did you like best about this story?

Our hero is too die for. Same kind of story in Then Came You, read by Karen White, the best at JS stories. This listen captures your heart!

Did Erin Bennett do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

EB is not the best choice, but she is better than Annie Green! I own all of Karen White's JS recordings. Yummy on KW's heros! EB can only be good if the story is great. IE Rogue rider by Larissa Ione. I just purchased but not yet listened to Susan E. Phillips, Heros Are My Weakness. This reader and SEP book not getting good reviews. Not sure why S.E.P. picked this reader as she needs a hit and has not gotten it in your last 2 books. EB just drops her voice a little bit for male voices. This story has a dreamboat of a hero, so she gets by and you are not disappointed or distracted.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The scenes of Toby and Tank eating cereal out of the same bowl, or Doc getting weak with our heroine makes you have that nice warm glow inside. Every kid would want a dad like the Doc.

Loved this book!

What did you love best about Forever and a Day?

Grace and the doctor were both written so realistically that I enjoyed every minute of the story. Poor Grace was like a fish out of water when she had moved across country to take a job that turned out to be awful. She supported herself by taking various odd jobs whether she was good at them or not. I loved her spunk and optimistic attitude. The doctor had the weight of the world on his shoulders with a paraplegic young sister, a five year old son, his work in the ER and being sole owner of a small town clinic. Somehow these two found each other and fell in love despite the odds.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Grace because she was a survivor and didn't realize how she was making a place for herself in the small town. She stood up for herself, took responsibility and didn't back down from anything.

What does Erin Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice was very pleasant and kept the different characters as individuals.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It just tickled me all over!

Any additional comments?

I love Jill Shalvis' books. Some are better than others, but they are all good reading.

A great series glad I found it.

This is a great series for people to see what living in a small town can be like. I had the experience but left to follow a career. The narrator was great at separating the char rectors and bringing them to life in my minds eye.
