About this listen
Emily: Sex & Sensibility is a steamy romance novel by USA Today best-selling Author Sandra Marton. Emily Wilde is smart, well-educated and beautiful. She's led a privileged life. Now she's determined to make it on her own in Manhattan. Marco Santini grew up dirt poor in a Sicilian slum. Now he has everything. He's gorgeous. He's rich. He's powerful. And he has all the beautiful women a man could ask for. Then, one rainy night, he sees a woman standing alone on a deserted New York street corner. Emily is clearly in need of help, but she's not foolish enough to step into Marco's chauffeured Mercedes. It takes a lot of convincing before she agrees to let him drive her to her apartment. He swears he's not going to do anything he shouldn't and he means it - but she's in his arms before they can stop themselves. Still, it's only a kiss, just one kiss in a moment torn out of time. That's what Emily and Marco both think. But Fate has other plans, starting with an unexpected job offer and a business trip to Paris that explodes in a passion so hot it will change everything - everything but the web of lies that traps them both....

The only thing I need is him. It was the night before my wedding. Maybe I cursed it by visiting my fiancé. I didn't expect him to cheat on me with my best friend. That night I ended up going to the strip club. The same one I went for my bachelorette party. That guy told me to come back if it didn't work out. I laughed at the thought. Well, it came true, because it didn't. What was I to do next?

Story
From New York Times best-selling author Kim Karr comes a flirty new love story. The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn't my cup of tea. I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body and 9-to-5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.) Tall, dark, and handsome doesn't change the fact that he's arrogant, cocky, and rude. Not that I care, but he's made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no. Turns out no isn't an option.

Sweet romance with a classic feel
Emily comes from a wealthy family with some incredibly successful siblings. She is out of college and is trying to make a name for herself on her own. Because of her well-known family she is finding it impossible to make her way in the world independently. Emily drops her last name and is living the life she can entirely on her own. She is struggling to make ends meet, and is experiencing one disaster after another when she meets Marco Santini, who attempts to rescue her from being stranded in a storm.
Marco came from nothing and has built himself into an incredibly successful business man. He has been hurt in the past, and is not interested in any real relationship with any woman. He and Emily are very attracted to one another, but both believe it would be a mistake to get involved. Fighting their attraction is easier said that done. Especially when they enter into a business relationship that is helping both of them significantly in different ways.
Emily was an easy character to care about even though her behavior could be frustrating at times. Marco is a sexy man and watching him struggle as he becomes vulnerable for the first time in a long time was endearing. The physical chemistry between Emily and Marco is pretty intense. There is definitely some flowery language going on here, and some very fairy tale-like elements to this story. That said, I stayed engaged throughout and was really hoping that these characters would be able to work through their struggles and find happiness. I am very interested in learning more about the members of the Wilde family.
The narrator does a great job of voicing Emily. She has a great Texas twang that really brings life to Emily. At times her Marco accent turns a little more Dracula than Italian ex-pat, but overall I found it easy to imagine these characters through her narration.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good romance with a classic feel and a nice steam factor.

Sandra Marton's "Emily: Sex & Sensibility"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'm a sucker for stories where false assumptions and well-intentioned half-truths lead to a tangled web of the protagonists' own making--but only when the misunderstandings are well-motivated and understandable. This book has that, and so much more.
What about Devra Woodward’s performance did you like?
Devra Woodward captured the emotions of the story well, and enhanced the story itself with her performance.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There are a number of moving scenes, but I really fell for the glimpses of the extended Wilde family presented in the book. They served to show that this story is oriented in a much larger world of overlapping characters and storylines.
Any additional comments?
Emily's attitude and outlook on life really drew me in to the story. With her background and upbringing, she could easily have been a pampered party girl, but she strove to make more of herself and it was her determination to become more than just another Wilde that made her likeable and sympathetic even when you knew she was digging herself into a hole that would eventually collapse in around her.
Marco is definitely an alpha male, but one with a wry sense of humor and a way with one liners that kept him from becoming unapproachable. The chemistry between Emily and Marco was hot, and the ending very satisfying.

Emily - 24 Going on 18
I was disappointed with the main characters Emily (24) and Marco ( probably early 30s), who were more stereotypical than interesting.
Emily was the baby of a large, well-educated and successful family of 6 siblings with a stern military father who just so happened to have money. Emily was the typical screw-up, with a useless art degree and no idea what she wanted to be when she grew up. I couldn't connect with a girl who didn't appreciate the advantages of her situation; she could have grown up in a trailer park without enough to eat or clothes to wear and little chance of going to college.
Marco was an arrogant self-made millionaire, an Italian immigrant who thought money was going to make him happy. Ironically, he couldn't trust that a woman would want him for him rather than his wealth, had limited time for enjoying life and treated Emily like a pet project. While he wasn't cruel or violent, he was incredibly self-absorbed and condescending. I didn't find his character particularly engaging or likable.
I may have enjoyed the plot when I was much younger but couldn't hold my interest now.

Another winner by Sandra Marton
Sandra Marton delivers another wonderful story about the Wilde family and it is a winner in my book. This book deals with one of the sisters-Emily. Emily lives in Manhattan and wants to make it on her own, well things don't always go as a person plans and that is what happens to Emily(even though Emily covers it up to her family, saying things are good for her). Enter Marco Santini a rich, powerful, handsome man who offers Emily a job and that is when the fireworks start. Read how Emily and Marco reach their HEA, I am sure you will not be disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am sure you will to. Sandra Marton is a very talented author. I really liked listening to this continuation of the Wilde family series.

Fun and Sexy
If you could sum up Emily in three words, what would they be?
Feisty Determined Romance
What was one of the most memorable moments of Emily?
Marco finding out about her family
Have you listened to any of Devra Woodward’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not, but I enjoyed her narration of this story very much
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I loved when Marco picked Emily up soaking wets while she was walking home in the rain
Any additional comments?
Emily Madison Wilde is determined to stand on her own two feet and not depend on her family's status and money. She moves to New York and takes meaningless jobs as she fights for her independence and the chance to prove she can take care of herself.
After losing her latest job as a piano player after putting a drunk moron in his place, Emily starts walking home in the poring rain late at night. She's in a bad mood worried about how to pay rent and drops her cell phone in the rain, ugh can things get any worse.
Enter Marco Santini who is driving home after having a equally frustrating day. He orders hos driver to stop and ask the lady in the pouring rain if she needs help and to offer her a ride. Emily afraid and determined gives him a hard time and he becomes intrigued with the strong stubborn woman. He gives her a ride and escorts her home then kisses her and walks away. He can't sleep the beautiful woman is consuming his every thought.
In need of a piano playing for his opening of a new building he has his HR manager contact Emily for the job. Turns out there's more to Miss Madison then he knows and a undeniable attraction that although the both try to fight refuses to be ignored.
I found this an exquisitely written romance with a very strong hero and heroine. Great flow and descriptive emotions that allow you to live through the characters eyes and experience a variety of emotions as they find themselves falling for each other.

Hearing in believing
What did you love best about Emily?
I enjoyed the way Marco found love again and Emily found that it is okay to be herself because the world is the one with the problem.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Emily was my favorite character because although she wanted to find her own way she still was human with a vulnerability and sassyiness
Would you be willing to try another one of Devra Woodward’s performances?
Yes if she did just a woman narrated book. I was very indifferent of her changing into th male role because it didn't feel natural but more forced.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Be who you want not who they want you to be.

Great story
I love Sandra Marton and the Wilde Sisters so I was very excited when the audible version came out. I was very disappointed in the audible version. The Texas accent sounds more like hicks instead of intelligent Texans. The foreign accents sound almost creepy. I will give the narrator points in that when simply reading the story, she did quite well. I actually enjoyed listening to her. I guess being from the south, my thoughts on what a southern accent sounds like May differ from someone else.
