About this listen

Nick Fairfax vows to do whatever Lord Bane Dunsaney desires for one year. In exchange, Nick's family gets a chance to regain their fortune. Is this the worst mistake of Nick's life, or will it lead to a love only found in fairy tales? Book 1 of our modern, M/M retelling of Beauty & The Beast.*

*Cursed: Broken is the first book of a 3-book series, which will all be published in 2016.*

Sensitive, aspiring photographer Nick Fairfax wants nothing to do with his family's corporate business, or their vicious, cold-blooded lifestyle. Intending to give up his inheritance and pursue his art, he arrives at his father's office, only to find that Fairfax Industries has fallen to a scarred man in a hooded cloak.

The man is the reclusive billionaire Lord Bane Dunsaney, and he is bent on destroying the Fairfaxes. But when he sees Nick, *everything* changes. Bane offers the Fairfaxes the chance to regain their fortune if Nick will reside at Moon Shadow, his secluded mansion, and do whatever the billionaire wants for a whole year. Nick has no real choice other than to agree to Bane's terms.

At Moon Shadow, Bane lords his power over Nick, going even so far as to take Nick's phone, computer and beloved camera away. The billionaire claims such measures are to protect his *privacy*, but Nick is convinced they are so Bane can control *him.*

Each is determined to see the worst in each other. But as time passes, Nick glimpses a Bane that is much more than the cold-hearted figure that he met in his father's office. He discovers that Bane is a man betrayed by love and no longer believes in it.

But what Nick comes to know about Bane is nothing compared to the man's true secret. Bane is *cursed.* He is a tiger-shifter who has *no control* over his beast. And that beast wants Nick.

*Cursed: Bound,* Book 2 of the series, is in progress and scheduled for late summer 2016! To find out more, check our blog here because we post often: http://welcome.raythereign.com/category/raythe-reign-team-blog/

Great story and performance

I really enjoyed Book 1 of a 3 book story. This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but very loosely based on that fairy tale. Although it definitely is a fairy tale, it is contemporary enough to keep me engaged. This first book is how Bane and Nick meet, not under the best circumstances. Bane mistakenly believes Nick is a spoilt rich brat, not the kind, sweet artistic man who has been rejected from his despicable family. And Nick mistakenly believes that Bane is a cruel bully intent on humiliating him because of his family name. Their understanding of each other evolves as they are forced to endure one another. I really liked that we get both MCs POV and the telling of this story swept me away. It was a combination of both the story and the excellent performance by the narrator. He does a wonderful job with the various characters. There is a lot more to this story, so on to Book 2. According to the author Book 3 will be released in 2017, hopefully soon as the story encompasses all 3 books.

I Have Fallen for the Beast

I listened to book 2.5 in this series some time ago. I was intrigued by the fairytale theme “beauty and the beast” from the m/m perspective so I greedily snapped up books 1 and 2. When I realized there would be a third book I decided to wait to start at the beginning. I felt a binge coming on and was worth the wait. Since the final book is out I began. This is a very romantic reframing of the original fairytale. It ignites a slow burn, a tease, if you will. I know each book will burn a little stronger until, I hope, I get my happily ever after. It is beautifully written with lyrical prose brought to life by Michael Pauley. The leading man, antihero, Bane is voiced by Pauley with heartbreaking tenderness. Nick, the love interest, is barely more than a gentle boy who has not been treated kindly in the world. As their fates collide the magic begins and you are swept up into a classical story as old as time and fairytales and as modern as a rock opera. There is a cliffhanger, that’s why I waited till the final book came out to start the series, and have to go now to start book 2. If you enjoy a romantic read, a fairytale and a male/male love story do not miss this series.

Great shifter romance

I was sceptical at first but I was in the mood for something different from the regular romance and was sucked into the story from the start. The narrator did a fabulous job as usual. The only complaint I have is the irritating music between chapters.

Loved it loved it loved it

loved this retelling of an old story, I'm new to audible Books and did not know this author but very glad I ran across his name, will listen in on some of his other works. The only criticism I personally have with the story is not enough sex scenes considering it's labeled erotica otherwise like I said the story kept me interested. The narrator was excellent will definitely try to follow him as well, very talented!!
