About this listen

After eight years of working as a PI, Lucy Ogilvy finally has a murder mystery to investigate. Who did kill Marilyn Carter, a convicted murderer who was a prominent Christian evangelist?

Lucy's investigations bring her back in contact with her ex-boyfriend Noel. They'd like to get back together - but he insists on a domestic discipline relationship, and forbids her to take unnecessary risks for work.

Can Lucy accept Noel's discipline? And how do you investigate a murder without taking a few risks, anyway?

Not too bad..

Would you consider the audio edition of At Dead of Night to be better than the print version?

I never have time to read much, so I usually go for the audiobooks. I am lucky that I can listen while I'm at work.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I thought it turned out pretty well.

What about Stacy Hinkle’s performance did you like?

I thought she did a great job with her performance, I only assume it could be a little difficult playing multiple people.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm really bad about this, so I don't think I could answer without embarrassing me..

Any additional comments?

The only part(s) that weren't "my cup of tea" even though she stayed with him after all were the parts about the "spanking". I'm sure there are a lot who get into that, but not I & especially when she really didn't enjoy it for the most part. Thank for letting me read it though.

Strong Performance Solid Writing But..

Strong performance solid writing, but I could not get into this book. Perhaps because this was very tame in the 'erotic' scenes - where most are very graphic, the shock value wasn't there.

I love Stacy Hinkle & would try another Bethany Leigh. I may try this book again in the future.

*I received this work in exchange for my review; good, bad or meh. I've written all 3 kinds. Consider following me on audible.com. I review from most genres.

Well... that wasn't what I was expecting

What did you love best about At Dead of Night?

The ending, it was definitely not what I was expecting. Plenty of twists and turns perfect for keeping you guessing.

What aspect of Stacy Hinkle’s performance would you have changed?

The male voices weren't great, they came across as flat and stern all the time, while the was appropriate some of the time it wasn't needed or useful in all situations.

In one place it says that the character speaks with an Irish accent, but there was very little change in the characters voice.

The narration didn't detract from the book, but it didn't add to it the way an excellent narration does.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story enough to finish it all in one sitting and I'll definitely look for other books by this author.

Note: I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

At dead of night

What did you like best about this story?

This was a great murder mystery with all the parts needed for a storyline. It was well written and suspenseful to the end. Besides a well told tale of mystery and suspense there was a bonus of a domestic discipline.

At Dead of Night

The murder and mystery were amazing! It was a fun who done it! However the personal story could have been more limited. It annoys me that he thinks a grown woman can't make her own decisions and punished her like she was 4. Oh and that he never makes mistakes. I'd have to say his ass needs a slipper.
