Characters include Jane (Sam), her husband Jim, kids Matt and Melissa, old friend from army days Dex, and her agency boss Chip. The reader comes to empathize with Jane as she has everyday issues. Family finances are in poor shape as her husband is facing challenging times in his job. He drinks too much and has a kiss with the taste of an ashtray. The kids are young and demand a lot of Jane's time. Special friend Dex offers a breath of fresh air to Jane's need for romance in her life. Should she pursue it? Both she and Dex are experienced in military special operations and can kick ass with the best of them.

In one segment, Jane and family are visiting Florida's Disney World and take a side trip to watch a space shuttle launch from the beach. Dex is also there working in one of his security roles when terrorists launch an attack.

Here is an excerpt:One of the terrorists leapt out from the back of the van and was preparing to launch his missile. It would take about five to seven seconds to complete the multi-step firing process and get a lock-on for target acquisition. Sam and Dex weren’t about to give this maniac those precious seconds. Dex pulled out his Special Forces combat knife, and threw it full force into the guy’s chest. The fellow staggered as he fell back and hit the release trigger!

There was a loud roar and bright flash as the missile fired. Sam and Dex covered their ears and looked away as they held their breath to avoid the toxic fumes. Everyone on the beach gasped in horror as the glare from the rocket flames lit up the sand. The space shuttle had completed its launch sequence and its bright glow could now be seen clearing the tree tops. As everyone screamed, gasped and held their breath hoping for the best, Sam and Dex took out the remaining terrorists.

They had hoped to take a prisoner or two for subsequent interrogation, but it wasn’t in the cards. Their survival instincts took control of them, and each conspirator ended up with either a broken neck or fatal knife wound.

Their hearts beating wildly, they each looked up into the night sky to watch the two fire trails begin to converge.
