Three Audible Leaders Named to the EMPower List 2020

The EMpower Role Model Lists showcase business leaders who are breaking down barriers at work and are working hard to smash the glass ceiling for ethnic minorities in the UK and Europe and for people of color in the US and Canada.

“It’s truly an honor to be recognized for something I consider to be both a professional and personal mission. My career has benefited greatly from having sponsors and mentors who invested in and supported me. I feel that it's my duty and privilege to pay it forward to high-potential minority talent. We as advocates and allies are on a continuum of learning, awakening and being woke on issues related to what minorities experience in the workplace. My goal is to create even more opportunities and spaces for diverse voices to be heard, amplified and realized.”

Empower Ethnic Minority Future Leaders 2020

“I think about this poem as it relates to being selected for this list. The poem was written by Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, civil rights leader and former President of Morehouse College. I graduated from Morehouse College. Also, the late Congressman Elijah Cummings recited the poem in his first floor speech to Congress when he joined in 1996. I worked for Congressman Cummings prior to joining Audible, from 2010-2016. Both leaders influenced me directly and indirectly.”

I have only just a minute,
Only sixty seconds in it.
Forced upon me, can’t refuse it.
Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it.
But it’s up to me
to use it.
I must suffer if I lose it.
