Susan Jurevics is Connecting Creators and Listeners Around the World
Susan Jurevics leads content and marketing for Audible’s marketplaces outside the US, including Canada, UK, EU, and the Asia-Pacific region. Her team works closely with every part of our organization to ensure customers globally have a seamless experience and a vast selection of exciting, meaningful content choices wherever they are.
With more than 20 years running marketing and global operations for major entertainment companies, Jurevics is no stranger to taking calculated risks in the name of growth—either personally or professionally. And with degrees in both art and business, she’s right at home with Audible’s mission to improve lives around the world through storytelling.
How would you describe your approach to leading the international org?
Audible has a vibrant, diverse, and high-growth business outside the US, and amazing teams in each of our marketplaces. While we are working creatively to have local content and marketing shine in every one of our services, we are also managing our business as a portfolio to drive growth, scale, and customer delight across all of International. Our teams in each country are the experts about their consumers, content creators, and marketplace opportunities. My job is to amplify Audible’s culture outside the US marketplace and create opportunities for my team to do their best work. I often refer to International as “the ultimate matrix” since we work closely with every functional team at Audible to manage and grow our business.
What drew you to Audible?
So many things. I love Audible. I have been an Audible member for many years in both the US and UK, and I genuinely appreciate the versatility of the audio format. I have degrees in both art and business, so I love the combination of creative and data that’s so pervasive here. I have worked with founders and creators throughout my career and really enjoy my role in building upon their vision to grow revenue, audience, and brand presence in relevant, modern—and sometimes unexpected—ways. I also fundamentally believe in our People Principles and what we are trying to do here.
What do you like best about your work?
I deeply appreciate the diversity of thought and perspective that comes from running a business in so many different marketplaces. There are such interesting challenges facing our teams, from changing consumer habits to varying cultural nuances and more, that make each day at Audible unique.
Looking back, what would you say has been the overarching thread in your career journey?
I have always been comfortable taking calculated risks and intentionally putting myself in high-growth situations; this tends to be where the most personal and professional learning occurs. These situations also involve dealing effectively with ambiguity and embracing change—two skills that have become increasingly important and relevant during this global pandemic.
Who would you invite to your dinner party of your dreams? Invitations are open to anyone living or dead, real or fictional.
Great question. We love to host cocktail and dinner parties in our brownstone in Brooklyn. I’d love to have favorite artists like Mark Rothko and Yayoi Kusama join favorite writers like Tana French and Ayn Rand to talk about their craft and where they get inspiration—that would be a stimulating evening!
