Growing the Tech Ecosystem in Newark with Per Scholas

This past month, we were excited to host a reception for leaders and alumni from Per Scholas to welcome them to Newark. At Per Scholas’ new campus in Newark’s historic Bell Building, the organization will foster local tech talent as part of its nationwide mission to prepare individuals from underserved communities for careers in technology.

Audible CIO Sanjay Tiwary gave opening remarks at our Innovation Cathedral, followed by a panel discussion with members of our tech team. Topics ranged from career paths, to resources for inspiration and keeping pace with industry trends, to advice the panelists wished they’d received early in their career. Afterwards, Audible employees and Per Scholas alumni mingled, sharing their experiences and career advice.

For Tanya Kravtsov, Senior Director of QA at Audible, who participated in the event, “hearing amazing career transformation stories from the Per Scholas program participants and impressive results they have accomplished despite numerous challenges and hardships was truly humbling and inspiring.”

Audible plans to create a curriculum with Per Scholas that will help us cultivate Newark’s tech community and develop promising professionals to work with us here at Audible.
