From Germany to Australia, Our International Offices are Making Headlines

The four lead actors from "Auris," a new Audible Germany release, pose together against the audiobook cover.

Our offices around the world have been launching thrilling new titles and holding one-of-a-kind events. Here are a few of the highlights.

Germany Profiles a Murderer on Audio Alone

Our German team introduced a new thriller, Auris, with an equally thrilling event. Bestselling German author Sebastian Fitzek dreamt up the idea of an audio profiler who can recognize people, and most importantly murderers, from only a few seconds of captured audio. Auris (i.e. “the ear”) was performed by some of Germany’s leading actors including Oliver Masucci and Svenja Jung. The event, held in the ruins of a Berlin radar station used in the Cold War, included a staged performance from the audio play and a test for the audience: Could they profile someone using audio alone? Covering their eyes with masks, the audience tried to identify people who had recently been in the news using only short audio clips.

Budding Narrators Test Their Performance Chops in Australia

At the Sydney Writers’ Festival, our Australian team invited listeners to get behind the mic and test their acting chops as an audiobook narrator. The pop-up studio was busy the full three days of the festival as budding narrators selected a popular audiobook and listened to a short excerpt before stepping into the booth to give their narration skills a whirl. To ensure their work garnered the recognition it deserves, participants got an electronic copy of their narration to share with their friends and family.

One of Italy’s (and Audible.IT’s!) most popular authors, Gianrico Carofiglio, treated journalists and influencers to a tour of his historic hometown, Bari, and the many places that have inspired the characters in his bestsellers. At the end of the tour, there was a live reading and discussion of his latest novel, La Versione di Fenoglio, to a sold out theater with over 300 Audible members in attendance.
