Audible Named Among 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators by Fast Company

Audible has earned a spot on Fast Company’s 2022 list of the 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators, and its 9 U.S. category standouts list, in recognition of our efforts to seek out and develop inclusive talent for our tech teams and beyond. These programs are an important part of our mission to create a meaningful work experience that embraces the full range of the human spectrum and invites everyone to bring their authentic selves to our culture of belonging.

One of these is our Next Chapter Returnship Program. Launched in October 2020, the program offers 16-week paid internships to help experienced professionals, who have taken a break from their careers for a year or longer to care for family members, to return to the workforce. While it was in planning stages before the pandemic and is open to all caregivers, the returnship has notably addressed the critical impact of the pandemic on women in the workplace; as of February 2022 there were one million fewer women in the labor market than there were two years ago.

Our Future Leaders program has been developing a talent pipeline in Newark since Audible moved our headquarters to the city in 2007. The program provides underserved high school students with paid internships, access to economic opportunities, and tools to overcome systemic barriers to education and employment. Many of our interns continue with Audible through the Audible Scholars program, which provides Future Leaders graduates with stipends and work opportunities while they further their education.

Also helping to train the next generation of innovators is our Cornerstone program, which actively recruits Newark jobseekers for entry-level roles. Audible then supports each new hire’s career mobility through mentorship, skill-building, tuition reimbursement, and paths to new roles, including in tech. The intent of programs like these is to disrupt traditional recruiting processes and offer meaningful opportunities to talented candidates who might have otherwise been overlooked.
