Audible Brings the Best of Audio Storytelling to Tribeca Festival
As Tribeca Festival’s first-ever Exclusive Audio Entertainment sponsor, Audible is bringing unique storytelling to the lineup of events planned from June 9–20. In celebration of Pride month and as part of Tribeca Festival’s official Podcast Program, we will host a preview of our latest Audible Original with Broadway Video, a queer action comedy titled Hot White Heist. We will also spotlight influential Black voices in audio entertainment at our Juneteenth Panel, which will feature a conversation with our head of Audible Studios, Zola Mashariki, and rapper and The Roots frontman Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, and will focus on his upcoming Audible Original Words + Music production, 7 Years. Audible EVP and Head of US Content, Rachel Ghiazza will join a panel of podcast makers and producers to discuss The Future of Podcasting.
Audible Presents Hot White Heist Preview Tribeca Festival attendees will be treated to an immersive preview of the new scripted Audible Original, a Hot White Heist theme song performance, and a showcase featuring Sasha Velour's drag revue, NightGowns.
Hot White Heist follows a group of queer contemporaries across the LGBTQ+ spectrum as they attempt the stickiest heist in history: stealing the U.S. government’s supply of the most valuable substance from some of history’s greatest minds, with the hopes of making money on the black market and buying an island for a new queer paradise. Or, more simply, a sperm bank heist.
The Audible Original stars Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) along with an ensemble of queer performers including Cynthia Nixon, Shannon Woodward, Mj Rodriguez, Bianca Del Rio, Cheyenne Jackson, Abbi Jacobson, Jane Lynch, Margaret Cho, Stephanie Beatriz, Jonathan Bailey, John Cameron Mitchell, Katya Zamolodchikova, Peppermint, and Tony Kushner. The series is created, and written, and produced by Adam Goldman (The Outs), directed by Alan Cumming, and produced by Broadway Video and Club Cumming Productions.
Hot White Heist will debut June 17, exclusively on Audible.
Future of Podcasting Panel Audible EVP, Head of US Content, Rachel Ghiazza, will be featured as a panelist on the Future of Podcasting panel on Sunday, June 13th at Spring Studios. Moderated by Jason Hirschhorn (CEO of REDEF Group, formerly Myspace & MTV), the panel will discuss podcasting and what the new world of audio storytelling sounds like. Other panelists include James Kim (creator of the podcast Vermont Ave., premiering at TFF) and Conal Byrne (CEO of iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group).
Audible’s Juneteenth Panel To mark the release of 7 Years, an Audible Original Words + Music production from rapper and The Roots front man Tariq Trotter, Trotter will join our Head of Audible Studios, Zola Mashariki, to discuss his innovative audio production, the evolution of his singular creative voice, the unique joy of Black storytelling, and the integration of song and story to create something truly exceptional for Audible listeners. 7 Years is coming soon, exclusively on Audible.
